What to do if you inherit a 35mm film camera?

Post Extract

Many of us are likely to remember a father or more rarely, a mother, exhorting us to stand stock still in front of a beautiful mountain in the Lake District, or maybe we have fairgound photos from Whitley Bay or the beach at Marsden in the family album. If there’s a talented amateur photographer in the family, you might discover a box of old camera stuff not being used. If you find a stash in an attic, or better still, are given an old 35mm film camera, this is what to do.

From The Blogger

Everyone needs this information! There are a several landfill tons of perfectly good-to-excellent 35mm film cameras out there which will work rather well with perhaps just a bit of a wipe down and a new battery. And film is really, really cheap. There’s never been a better time to learn how to do proper film photography, with a proper film camera. :)

About The Photography Pages

Darkroom thoughts, research, inspiration, the occasional tutorial and review from a photographer on the desolate north-east coast. Traditional and darkroom photography, some northern artsy news, with toast crumbs of politics and website making occasionally falling into the fixer.

Tell Us About You And Your Blog

The Photography Pages is a companion to my ongoing working life. It’s a place where over the years, a growing community of the interested have been able to comment about and share in my progress, pain, prizes and various influences and inspirations.

How Long Have You Been Blogging?

In a variety of iterations, about 6 or 7 years. Started on Blogger, spent a year or so with Moveable Type and then about 3 years ago, discovered the world’s best open source CMS and my real blogging life began with The Photography Pages. Bought the domain name only a couple of months ago, so now we are fully committed life partners.

Why Do You Blog?

To air the concepts and micro-thoughts that cross the desk every day, to publish research and work-in-progress, to keep key clients and my network up to date with my work and career, to ask for feedback and sometimes for support. It’s a complete adjunct to my freelance life, and I wouldn’t be without it for a single moment.

What Are You Hoping To Get From WordCamp UK?

Specifically, some ideas for improving my all-round CMS and blogging skills, template tweaking tips and suggestions, and to immerse for a short time in the wonderful world of WordPress.
